About Community Futures
Community Futures Pan West, established in 1996, is a joint initiative of the four western provincial Community Futures associations: Community Futures Manitoba, Community Futures Saskatchewan, Community Futures Alberta and Community Futures British Columbia.
Working in partnership with Western Economic Diversification Canada, Community Futures Pan West supports the 90 Community Futures organizations which provide services to Canada’s rural west. Our shared vision is to help create diverse, sustainable communities by supporting local, community-based economic development.
Over the last 25 years, Community Futures has played a significant role in entrepreneurial and community development throughout western Canada. Every year we approve over 1,000 loans to small- and medium-sized businesses, creating thousands of jobs, not only contributing millions of dollars to rural economies but leveraging millions more.
Local Community Futures offices are non-profit organizations guided by volunteer boards of directors and staffed with business professionals. Together, volunteers and staff are actively engaged in helping to develop and implement community-based economic development and diversification strategies. These strategies result in growth within our local communities – one idea at a time.
